PD: Student Charged With Bringing Knife to School

Meriden Police say an 18-year-old Venture Therapeutic Day School student was carrying a pocket knife on the grounds.

An 18-year-old city student faces a felony charge after a teacher at the Venture Therapeutic Day School saw a pocket knife fall from his pocket, according to the Record-Journal.

On Sept. 11 at 11:45 a.m., Quintin Jones, 18, of 106 Allen Avenue, #179, Meriden, was pulling something out of his pockets when the knife fell to the ground, and due to the school district's zero-tolerance policy, the principal called police, the RJ reports.

Venture Therapeutic Day School is an alternative educational program for middle and high school students in Meriden.

Possession of a weapon on school grounds is a class D felony, punishable by up to five years imprisonment, a $5,000 fine, or both.
