Update: Schools Closed Monday, Snow Cleanup Continues
Meriden City Manager Lawrence Kendzior gave the following update at 12 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10.
All crews and available equipment are working on opening roads. All crews and equipment from Parks has been assigned to road opening also. We have arranged for a couple of pieces of equipment from the Board of Ed in addition. (Schools will be closed tomorrow. BOE crews have only been able to clear Platt, Maloney and Lincoln since Friday. We will assist them when we can.) We have called all contractors with appropriate equipment and operators to assist in the road opening effort and are trying to get them mobilized.
I have authorized Macri Roofing to come in and do the roofs on the firehouses and the Library and Stoddard building before the rain that is forecast for tomorrow.
Several of you have asked for time estimates on when certain areas in the city will be opened up. It is very difficult to give you an estimate. We did make "good progress" this morning but I do not think we will have all roads open by morning.
