2 Juveniles Accused Of Shooting At House, Car: Middletown Police

Police said detectives identified the two juveniles after investigating both shooting incidents.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Police said they have charged two juveniles with an arrest warrant for two recent shooting incidents.

Detectives from Middletown Police Major Investigations Unit were investigating two shooting incidents, one on Feb. 19 and the other on March 3.

On Feb. 19, around 2 a.m., a shooting occurred on Glover Street, and after an investigation, several rounds were fired into a Glover Street home, which numerous individuals occupied at the time, police said. It is believed that one of the residents was a target of the shooting, police said. The shooting suspects fled the scene in a motor vehicle stolen from a different Middletown resident the previous evening, police said.

A month later, on March 3, around 11:53 a.m., a shooting occurred in the roadway of the 700 block of Westfield Street, police said. The investigation revealed that several rounds were fired from two different weapons from one moving vehicle into another, police said. The shooting victims pulled their car over and fled on foot, while the suspects fled in their vehicle that had been stolen from a different city before the shooting, police said. This was determined to be the target of the shooting, police said.

After investigating the two shooting incidents, detectives from Middletown Police Major Investigations Unit identified a Middletown 15-year-old male and a 16-year-old male as the shooters, police said.

Detectives obtained arrest warrants for both juveniles for the March 25 shooting, police said.

With assistance from the Middletown Police Emergency Response Team and Patrol Division, search and arrest warrants were executed on multiple residences and the suspect juveniles on April 5, 2023, police said.

Police officials said both juveniles were arrested and taken into custody. Their case was transferred to adult court, where they were issued $250,000 surety bonds, which they posted and were then released, police said.

Detectives continued their investigations and obtained arrest warrants for both juveniles for the Feb. 19 shooting, police said.

On May 15, both juveniles were again located, arrested, and taken into custody for their involvement in the shooting. Their case was transferred to adult court, where they were issued a $100,000 surety bond, police said.

Police officials said one juvenile posted bond and has since been released; the other remains in custody.

The involvement of the two juveniles in other shootings in and around the city continues to be investigated, police said.
