4 Overdoses in 1 Day; One Fatal: Middletown Police Say Overdose Cases Are Rising

One person was found deceased at the scene of a reported drug overdose, Middletown Police reported.

Wednesday, April 13, was a tough day in Middletown. Multiple overdoses were reported to police and one of them was fatal.

"During the day yesterday, the Middletown Police Department responded [to] four calls of people in need of medical attention from a drug overdose," police said. "One person was found deceased at the scene. In at least one of the cases, Narcan was administered to revive the person. It has not been confirmed in these cases which drug was ingested/injected."

Middletown Police said several cases have occurred recently, where people have overdosed on narcotics. Most of the overdoses were due to heroin, they said.

"We are asking the public to use caution due to the significant rise in people requiring medical attention," police said. "The Major Investigations Division is investigating this series of overdoses. At this point in the investigation the incidents do not appear to be linked to one drug source."

Police said there are services available in Middletown and the surrounding area for people battling addiction.

"If you think that you need immediate medical attention, call 911," police advised. "If you looking for information on addiction services, call the info line at 211 or 211CT.ORG."

The Connecticut Valley Hospital Addiction Services can be reached at 860-262-2333 and the Rushford Center can be reached at 860-346-0300, police said.
