7,000 Athletes To Arrive In Middletown In July
The athletes will be participating in various competitions hosted by the city of Middletown and throughout Central Connecticut.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Around 7,000 athletes will be coming to Middletown to participate in the 2023 ShopRite Nutmeg State Games during the 34th anniversary of the games.
The Games will be held from July 8 through July 30, 2023, hosted by the City of Middletown. The Goal of the Games is to promote and reinforce the Olympic spirit of the Connecticut community through competition.
Team sports offered in the 2023 ShopRite Nutmeg State Games include Baseball, Basketball, fast-pitch softball, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, roller hockey and soccer.

New to this year’s Games are the individual sports, including archery, cycling criterium, fencing, figure skating, judo, pickleball, track and field and wrestling.
Connecticut is divided into four regions for the ShopRite Nutmeg State Games: North, South, East and West. An athlete’s residency determines what region they will be grouped into. The various competitions will be hosted by the city of Middletown and throughout Central Connecticut in over 20 of the state’s top athletics facilities.

The 2023 ShopRite Nutmeg State Games will be a qualifier for the 2023 State Games of America hosted in San Diego, Calif. The 2024 State Games of America will be held July 17 through 21.
