Broken Christmas Lights? Don't Discard Them — Recycle Them!
Middletown residents can bring strings of old holiday lights to the recycling center through the end of January, where bulbs and wires will be separated and diverted from the landfill.

Kim O'Rourke, the city's recycling coordinator, has some good news for folks whose Christmas lights have burned out.
The Holiday Light Recycling program is open in Middletown. Residents can bring strings of old holiday lights to the Middletown Recycling Center from Dec. 23 to Jan. 30 for recycling.
Lights should be loose (not in boxes or any other packaging). Do not include any other apparatus with the lights and wind them up to avoid excessive tangling. The light recycling box is located in the Household Electronic Recycling Container. Bulbs will be separated from the wires and recycled.
