Burning Wires Interrupt Trick-Or-Treating In Middletown Neighborhood
Downed wires interrupted Halloween revelry in Middletown Friday.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — An ill-timed incident that involved burning wires interrupted trick-or-treating in one Middletown neighborhood on Halloween night.
The incident broke out just after 6 p.m. — prime time for the younger crowd to make the rounds.
Westfield Fire Department officials said a section wires had fallen from its pole and began burning on the shoulder of Ballfall Road between Olympus Parkway.

The road had to be shut down as responders went to work, fire officials said..
As of 7:30 p.m., Eversource was listing 176 homes without power in Middletown. By 8 p.m. that number was down to 51. By 10:20 p.m., the outages were "fewer than 4."
