PD: Drunk Woman Hit Parked Car Then House, Fled Scene, Left Wallet Behind

Middletown Police say a man who had sex with the woman in a Nissan returned to the crash and hid the car from authorities.

A 30-year-old North Carolina woman was arrested for driving under the influence and evading responsibility after Middletown Police say she drove while intoxicated, hit another car and then a house and fled the scene.

On Oct. 28 at 10:53 p.m., police were called to 24 Cooley Avenue about a Nissan Maxima that had crashed into a house and uprooted shrubs, according to the report, then left the scene. Parked nearby was a Honda Accord with damage and marked by gray and primer-colored paint, police say, and witnesses said the Maxima was parked in the driveway of 17 Cooley Avenue.

According to the report, the Maxima had similar damage and pieces of shrubbery in its undercarriage and a search inside revealed the wallet of Jasmine Norfleet, 30, of South Commerce Street, Aulander, N.C.

Police found Norfleet inside the home at 17 Cooley with other individuals who would not answer questions. She soon told detectives she had borrowed the Nissan and while driving lost control, hitting the Honda, shrubs and front porch of 22 Cooley, according to the report. Police say she smelled of alcohol, failed sobriety tests and her blood alcohol levels were .1262 and .1207.

Dean D.S. Tenn, 26, of East Lake Street told police he and Norfleet had engaged in sex in the Nissan, and he left her inside and went into 17 Cooley Avenue. The report says she called Tenn telling him she'd crashed the car so Tenn backed the car off the front lawn and hid it from police.
