MIDDLETOWN, CT – Two local Middletown businesses are partnering to organize a special cleanup and yoga event at Hammonnasset Beach State Park, 1288 Boston Post Rd.

Cinder + Salt and Starr Mill Yoga are partnering to bring the event to the yoga and beach cleanup event on Saturday, July 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The beach yoga is set for the first hour of the event followed by the beach cleanup. Volunteers can skip the yoga and start cleaning at any time.

Starr Beach Yoga instructor Jamie Wright will lead the morning yoga on the beach with a kind and gentle flow but will have some challenging positions.

The beach yoga event participants will enjoy the added benefits of the sea air, sunshine and the great outdoors. According to Starr Beach Yoga, practicing yoga on the beach is a great workout because your muscles have to work harder to stabilize in the sand, but the cushion of the sand is also gentler on your joints.

Cinder + Salt said the cleanup team will be meeting at Middle Beach. Parking is free for all Connecticut License plates, and all clean-up supplies will be provided.

Supplies include trash grabbers, buckets and gloves.

Cinder + Salt staff said that due to COVID-19 precautions, they will not be supplying water and snacks for the cleanup event and the event is children-friendly.

Registered volunteers will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last.

The events are weather permitting. If they need to cancel due to heavy rain or weather, the events will be rescheduled for the following Sunday.

Bringing sunglasses, a jacket, work gloves and water is suggested for the cleanup event, and a towel for the yoga event.
