During the investigation, officers learned that the victim and the suspect were engaged in a physical fight when the suspect stabbed the victim and fled the area in a motor vehicle, police said.

Police officials said Officer Arroyo was arriving on the scene when he saw a 2010 Mercury Mariner leave the area at a high rate of speed.

The driver, later identified as Dukes, failed to obey the traffic control signal on Stoneycrest Drive at Newfield Street. Police said. Officer Arroyo stopped the vehicle in Newfield Street and identified the driver as Dukes with a last known address of 130 Palm St. in Hartford, police said.
