Motorcyclist Critically Injured In Crash: Middletown Police

A Portland resident was seriously injured in the crash and is being treated for head trauma, police said.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A 54-year-old man is in critical condition after a motorcycle and Jeep crash, police said.

At 5:49 p.m. Sunday, police said they responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and SUV on Hartford Avenue.

Police officials said that when officers arrived, they found the operator of the motorcycle, later identified as Daniel Richer, 54, of Portland, Conn., had sustained a severe head injury.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was not injured, police said.

Richer was transported to Middlesex Hospital and airlifted to Hartford Hospital via Lifestar, police said.

Police officials said Richer is currently in critical condition and being treated for head trauma associated with the collision.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, police said.
