Middletown Arrests: Nov. 11-19

The following police reports come from the Middletown Police public information officer. Individuals named here reflect charges filed, never a conviction.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:

Nov. 19

DUI, FAILURE TO DRIVE ON RIGHT, OPERATION IN VIOLATION OF LICENSE CLASSIFICATION — At 12:13 a.m., police were called to a crash at Smith and Middle streets in which a car crashed into a telephone poll. Mohammed Ali, 18, of Forrest Glen Circle was talking on a cell phone, according to the report, appeared uninjured, smelled of alcohol and had glossy and bloodshot eyes. Police say Ali told them he was returning from buying cigarettes in Cromwell when an oncoming car had its high beams on and blinded him. The report says he admitted to drinking one beer at 11 p.m., failed sobriety tests and his blood alcohol levels registered .185 and .195. During booking, police say, Ali, who was found with $485 in cash, told them he was "hopping on a plane to Pakistan, never to return," so he was kept overnight on a $10,000 bond.

Nov. 18

THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — At 4:25 p.m., a female victim at the Community Health Center on Ferry Street said her husband, Shawn A. Jones, 34, of Newfield Street, had kicked her and a witness confirmed the story, according to the report. The victim said Jones pushed her on the ground twice, punched her and began to choke her, according to the report.

Nov. 17

DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 9:26 p.m., police were called to Hubbard Street about Tylon S. Hardy, 18, of Stoneycrest Drive, who was inside a home highly agitated after arguing with his cousin, according to the report, over the washing machine. Hardy reportedly "flipped out," saying he hoped his cousin "died in her sleep," wished she "was never born," and lunged at her. She and the grandmother told police they could no longer control Hardy's anger, and the report said police know he has a violent temper, "officers are urged to use caution" around him and call for backup.

INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM — At 1:46 p.m., Richard Grover, 61, of no certain address driving a Chevy Suburban in the Water's Edge parking lot on Church Street, according to the report, and was involved in an accident.

ASSAULT PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER — At 6:54 a.m., police were called about a theft of services complaint and recognized Destiny Wells, 23, of Washington Street, as having an outstanding warrant.

Nov. 11

THIRD-DEGREE IDENTITY THEFT, CONSPIRACY — At 1 p.m., Claudia Trudell, 40, of Chatham Court, Portland, turned herself in on an outstanding warrant.
