Middletown Arrests: Sept. 30 to Oct. 28

Oct. 28

SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — Joseph M. Velasquez, 20, of Southlawn Road, East Orange, N.J., turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.

Oct. 27

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, INTERFERING WITH EMERGENCY CALL — At 8 p.m., Rebekah Clark, 41, of Wilcox Hill Road, Portland, called police saying she and her ex-husband had fought and when he threatened to call 911, she slapped the phone from his hand, according to the report. The victim said they fought over child care issues and she tried to taunt him into hitting her.

Oct. 26

TWO COUNTS FIRST-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR —At 5:17 p.m., Trenton Bond, 46, of Hillside Avenue was seen by police at Hillside Avenue and Russell Court with outstanding warrants.

RISK OF INJURY TO CHILD, SECOND-DEGREE RIOT, BREACH OF PEACE, THIRD-DEGREE AND CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT ASSAULT, FIRST-DEGREE RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT — At 4:20 p.m., Yesenia Anthony, 29, of Rome Avenue and Diana Anthony, 28, of Spring Street were picked up on Spring Street on outstanding warrants.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT, THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, THREATENING — At 2:35 p.m., John Paterson, 25, of Ridgefield Drive was picked up on an outstanding warrant from Wallingford Police.

RISK OF INJURY TO CHILD, THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT — At 8:04 p.m., a woman walked into police headquarters to report her ex-boyfriend, Byron Bell Jr., 25, of Camp Street, had slapped her son across the face, according to the report. Police say the mother, who shares custody with Bell, planned on taking her to trick or treating and when she called Bell to ask, he hung up the phone on her and she feared he might take out his anger on the child. The report says the mother met them at the mall to pick up the son and saw he had a red mark on his face and the boy indicated his father had slapped him. Police say Bell said the boy had ongoing discipline issues at home and school and he had called his girlfriend "fat," which "pushed him over the edge," so he slapped the child but admitted to police it was "excessive."

Oct. 23

OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WHEN LICENSE SUSPENDED — At 1:53 a.m., John J. Damico, 49, of Manison Road, Wallingford, was driving on Butternut Street near Cross with an unlit license plate, according to the report.

Oct. 21

FAILURE TO KEEP PLATES READABLE, ENGAGING POLICE IN PURSUIT, RESTRICTED TURN, USE OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, WEAPONS IN VEHICLES — At 9:25 p.m., police came upon a suspicious Mazda parked at Lincoln and High streets driven by Brian M. Sullivan, 22, of Saddle Hill Drive and with a female passenger, according to the report. The car sped away toward route 66 and 3, the report says, police followed in slow pursuit until Sullivan turned into the Sunoco gas station. A search revealed a backpack with a fake Coke can and a three-inch spring-release knife.

Oct. 12

POSSESSION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES — At 5:53 p.m., Ashley Giannotti, 23, of Amity Street, Meriden, was driving a Scion on High Street and when stopped, the report says, police smelled marijuana inside. A search revealed a small bag of marijuana and heat-sealed package with 18 Oxycodone pills Giannotti said she'd taken from her mother who lives in East Hampton.

Oct. 11

BREACH OF PEACE — Laisha Cooper, 34, of Allen Street fought with Jeanette Miranda, 36, of Hillside Avenue in a parking lot on Hillside Avenue. Both claimed the other started the fight, according to the report, and both were charged.

Sept. 30

SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — At 12:19 p.m., a resident of Pearl Street called police about Jaimie L. McCloud, 37, of no certain address, whom she and her husband had allowed to stay with them but had learned she was using narcotics and prostituting again, according to the report, then took items from them including a DVD player, camera, cash and other items. The woman said McCloud was depressed so she went to Middlesex Hospital. There, she confirmed taking the items because she was "high on crack cocaine, heroin and drunk," the report says, was prostituting to support her habits and didn't know what she was doing but was suicidal. Staff told officers she was going to be admitted for two to three weeks.

The following arrest information came from the State Police Troop F barracks in Westbrook. It does not indicate a conviction.

Oct. 24

State police responded to Vinal Regional Technical High School in Middletown on Oct. 24 after getting a complaint that a student was in possession of a small amount of marijuana on school grounds. The juvenile was issued a summons to appear in Middletown Juvenile Court to answer to the charge of possessing more than .5 ounces of cannabis.
