Middletown Public Works Employee Dies, Colleagues Pay Tribute
To honor the life of a Department of Public Works member, Middletown is closing its facilities on Tuesday.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — The Middletown Public Works Division will close on Tuesday to honor a member of the department who recently passed away.
Carmelo “Carl” Morello, 51, of Middletown, died on May 6, 2023, according to D’Angelo Funeral Home.
Middletown officials said the city suffered a tremendous tragedy when Morello died.

To honor the life of Morello, city officials said all Middletown Public Works facilities will be closed Tuesday, May 16.
The closed facilities include the Middletown Recycling Center, Highway Garage, the Sanitation District and administrative offices.

City officials said trash and recycling scheduled to be picked up on Tuesday will be collected on Wednesday, with the Wednesday routes. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday routes will stay the same.
Before working for the city of Middletown Public Works Department, Morello owned an auto body repair business and worked for several construction companies, according to D’Angelo Funeral Home.
