Middletown High School Alumn Chosen As New Principal
Middletown Superintendent of Schools Alberto Vázquez Matos said the national search for a new principal was extensive and rigorous.

MIDDLETOWN, CT – Middletown School officials said the search to find a new principal for Middletown High School has concluded, and a decision has been made.
Middletown Public Schools Superintendent of Schools Alberto Vázquez Matos said, Dr. Dawn E. Brooks has been appointed as the new Middletown High School principal.
Matos said after an extensive search and interviewing various candidates through a rigorous process, Brooks emerged as the individual best suited for the position.

'“Her extensive experience in education, passion for student development, well-being and success and proven track record of effective leadership make her the perfect fit for the role,” Matos said via a press release.
Brooks has served as the interim principal for MHS since November 2022.

“As a high school principal, Brooks will continue to champion academic excellence, student growth and achievement and community partnerships,” Matos said.
Brooks is a Middletown native, an MHS graduate and a lifelong learner who profoundly values education.
Brooks has 25 years of experience in public education. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Spelman College, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Quinnipiac University and a Doctorate of Educational Leadership from the University of Bridgeport
