MIDDLETOWN, CT — A series of technical issues has prompted the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection's Liquor Control Commission to suspend the alcohol license of a Middletown restaurant and bar for a day.

According to commission's web site, the liquor license of The Forbidden Llama at 329-335 Main St. is suspended for July 23.

Commissioner Bryan Cafferelli said in the filing that the suspension "resolves issues" concerning four statutes or regulations:

  • 30-51 SALES IN DWELLING HOUSES REGULATED (INTERIOR ACCESS) - addresses the requirements for permit premises and access to those premises, particularly when a building is not used solely for the permit purpose.
  • 30-6-A10 FAILURE TO COOPERATE - No permittee or backer or his agent shall refuse to cooperate with or give information to the department, the police authorities or any other enforcement agency upon any matter arising out of the conduct of the permit premises.
  • 30-6-A23a FIRE SAFETY - equipment and display by a manufacturer.
  • 30-6-A24 (f) CONDUCT OF PERMIT PREMISES-PERMITEE STRICTLY ACCOUNTABLE - A permittee shall be held strictly accountable for the conduct of his permit premises.

The restaurant and bar has also paid a $1,500 fine, according to the filing.
