Police: Wife Hit Husband With Car After Learning he was Unfaithful

Middletown Police say the 23-year-old threw a ceramic gingerbread house at his neck and when he fell, kicked him repeatedly on the ground — in full view of onlookers.

Police reports come from the Middletown Police public information officer. Individuals named here reflect charges filed, never a conviction.

On Dec. 20 at 10:08 a.m., police were called to Hotchkiss Street about a pedestrian hit by a car and Brooke J. Lord, 23, of Hotchkiss Street sitting outside the home, the report says, after reportedly discovering her husband was cheating on her.

Police say she hit him with their Honda Civic and was in obvious pain but kept insisting nothing took place and knew nothing about a ceramic gingerbread house in the street that was broken in pieces.

Witnesses said the two had been arguing that morning, left the home and the victim returned limping and crying, saying his wife hit him with their car, according to the report.

Onlookers also said Lord hit her husband in the back/neck area with the ceramic gingerbread house and when he fell, kicked him repeatedly on the ground. Other said they saw her speeding down the street, causing the victim to dive out of the way to avoid being hit.

Lord came into police headquarters and after being interviewed by detectives, the report says, she admitted to throwing the holiday decoration but denied hitting him with her car. The husband later went to Middlesex Hospital for his injuries but again refused to speak with police about the incident. The state Department of Children and Families was called about children who were present during the fight.
