Vietnam War Veteran Earns Chamber's Pomfret Community Service Award

The William J. Pomfret award is given to a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces who has shown a selfless commitment to community and public service in Middletown and beyond.

The Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce's 12th Annual Support the Troops & Honor the Veterans Member Breakfast Meeting was held on Nov. 4 as more than 600 attended this event including many local veterans and active duty personnel.  

Former Army Capt. Paul W. “Buddy” Bucha, a recipient of the Medal of Honor, was keynote speaker. The Medal of Honor is the highest military honor in the United States of America.  

Each year at this event, the Chamber presents The William J. Pomfret Veteran Community Service Award. This award is presented to a Veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces who has shown a selfless commitment to community and public service in Middlesex County.

This year’s recipient was Jeremiah “Jerry” LaMark of Chester, a veteran of the U.S. Army who served honorably in the Vietnam War.  

LaMark is a lifelong supporter of veterans and committed to veterans’ community service. He served his country with honor, and continues to serve the community of Chester and the state of Connecticut, according to the Chamber.

“Our Chamber is honored to host this annual event which supports our troops and honors our veterans," said Chamber President Larry McHugh. "We are so pleased that it has become such an important event to so many people. 

"I would like to thank our Support the Troops Committee, led by Chairman Phil Cacciola, for their hard work on this event and continuing service to our community and our nation.”
