To Save Lives, Middletown Fire Department Now Carry Narcan Kits
Through a collaborative effort, Middletown Fire Department now carries Narcan to reverse opioid overdoses.

MIDDLETOWN, CT – Middletown Fire said their crews are now carrying Narcan Leave-Behind Kits to reverse an opioid overdose.
Through a collaborative effort between South Fire District Firefighters IAFF Local 3918, the city of Middletown, the Health Department, and Middlesex Health, firefighters are carrying the Narcan kits on their trucks.
Fire officials said Middletown has consistently been among the top 10 cities in Connecticut with high concentrations of opioid overdoses. They hope this initiative will only help get Middletown away from that statistic.

Each kit contains two doses of Narcan medication to reverse an opioid overdose, English/Spanish Instructions, a CPR mask, and a list of Middletown area addiction recovery resources.
The aim is to leave a kit with every patient, or their immediate social network, who experiences a nonfatal overdose in the district. Doing so will increase the availability and distribution of Naloxone to high-risk populations, fire officials said.
