Several Streets Closed During Fireworks Festival: Middletown Police

Middletown Police shared which streets are closed, the best viewing spots and parking locations for Saturday's Fireworks Festival.

MIDDLETOWN, CT – As the City of Middletown prepares for the annual Fireworks Festival on Saturday, July 1, Middletown Police shared that several streets will be closed during the event.

Food vendors will be located at Lower Court Street, DeKoven Drive and Harbor Drive.

The road closures start at 10 a.m. and go through 11 p.m. from DeKoven Drive to Washington Street with no southbound traffic.

The street closures are as follows:

  • Court Street will be closed from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Harbor Drive will be closed from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • DeKoven Drive will be closed from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Dingwall Drive will be closed between Metro Square and DeKoven Drive from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • MLK Way will be closed between Metro Square and DeKoven Drive from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • River Road will be closed between Harbor Drive and Walnut Street from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Easter Drive will be closed between Silver Street and River Street (southbound traffic only) from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Middletown Police said drivers can access Eastern Drive via Walnut Street to River Street during the road closures.

There are several locations to park to enjoy the annual Fireworks Festival, including Main Street, municipal lots, commuter lot (Eastern Drive), CVH Grounds and the Jackson Corrugated Lot (access from Walnut Street to River Road). Handicapped parking is available at the south lot of Harbor Drive and the upper city hall parking lot.

For those who want the best possible viewing locations, Middletown Police recommends the city hall area, harbor area or CVH Grounds.
