Special Weather Statement Issued For Interior Southern Connecticut

National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for inland sections of Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties.

INTERIOR SECTIONS OF SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for northern sections of Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties.

The weather service wrote,"Light rain will change to light snow between 11am and 1pm. Light snow will continue through the afternoon, possibly falling moderately at times.

"Visibilities will likely be reduced to one half to one mile at times this afternoon. Temperatures will drop to around freezing, allowing for snow to accumulate on untreated roads. Up to an inch
of snowfall is likely across this area, particularly across the highest elevations, before ending late this afternoon.

"Be prepared for snow and slush covered roads, particularly secondary and elevated roadways for the afternoon commute. Slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination," the weather service concluded.

And we may see more snow and rain on Wednesday, and it's possible that there could be some minor snow accumulation, the weather service said.

Here's what the weather service said concerning Wednesday's forecast:

Wednesday: Snow, mainly after 1pm. High near 38. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Wednesday Night: Rain and snow, possibly mixed with sleet, becoming all rain after 9pm. Temperature falling to near 33 by 8pm, then rising to around 49 during the remainder of the night. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
