State Rep. Matt Lesser Has 18 Bills on His Agenda This Session

Lesser has introduced or is co-sponsoring 18 pieces of legislation in the 2013 regular session.

 

State Rep. Matt Lesser, D-Middletown, has introduced or is co-sponsoring 18 bills during the 2013 regular session of the General Assembly, which convened a few weeks ago.

Some of the legislation Lesser is backing this year include bills that would cap the fees administrators can charge on individual retirement accounts, build in cost-of-living increases into the minimum wage and make it easier for voters to cast ballots when they move within the same voting district.

Other legislation that Lesser is backing include:

HB 5902: AN ACT CONCERNING PREREGISTRATION OF SIXTEEN AND SEVENTEEN YEAR OLDS. This would allow 16- and 17-year olds to preregister to vote and to "encourage civic education and maximize voter participation."

HB 6170: N ACT REQUIRING BACK-UP POWER GENERATION IN HOUSING FOR THE ELDERLY. This would require "adequate power generation in the event of an outage to ensure the safety and well-being of elderly persons."

HB 5440: AN ACT CONCERNING WORKERS' COMPENSATION EXPENSES FOR CERTAIN POLICE SERVICES.  This measure would "clarify that when private persons contract police services from a municipality, such private persons are legally responsible for paying any workers' compensation expenses for the officers incurred during the contract period."

HB 5644 AN ACT REQUIRING HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE OF FERTILITY PRESERVATION. This would require health insurance coverage of "fertility preservation for insureds facing likely infertility as a result of a necessary medical procedure for insured with cancer and other medical conditions."
