Middletown Man Facing Multiple Charges After Officer Dragged During Rocky Hill Stop And High-Speed Chase
A driver from Middletown is facing charged after a wild scene in Rocky Hill that spilled onto Interstate 91, state police said.

ROCKY HILL, CT — A Middletown man is facing multiple charges after an officer was dragged in Rocky Hill and a speeding vehicle caused havoc on Interstate 91 in Christmas Day, state police said.
State police said in the early morning hours of Thursday, troopers assigned to Troop H in Hartford assisted the Rocky Hill Police Department in locating a black Ford Edge after a Rocky Hill Officer was dragged during an attempted traffic stop.
The incident took place at 2:21 a.m. and, after being notified that the vehicle had sped away from the scene in Rocky Hill, state troopers took positions along I-91 to wait for it, according to an arrest report.

At 2:24 a.m. a trooper observed the Ford enter I-91/Route 5-15 south from Exit 27 in Hartford, but when state police activated their emergency lights, it fled at speeds exceeding 100 mph, leading police through multiple exits and briefly onto side streets before re-entering I-91, according to an arrest report.
The driver at one point turned off the vehicle's headlights, traveled erratically across multiple lanes, and appeared to deliberately steer toward pursuing police cruisers, according to an arrest report.

Stop sticks were eventually deployed and they disabled a tire, but the vehicle continued northbound until slowing on the Exit 28 ramp, where Troopers executed a controlled maneuver to box the vehicle in, according to an arrest report. During the stop, the driver intentionally struck a state police cruiser, causing disabling damage, before being fully contained, according to an arrest report.
The driver was identified as Tyshawn Jermiane Adams 46, of Middletowwn, who had an active warrant for violation of probation.
A search of Adams and the vehicle uncovered large quantities of fentanyl, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug manufacturing and packaging materials, according to an arrest report. Adams also showed "clear signs of impairment," and admitted to using multiple drugs prior to driving, according to an arrest report. He also stated he believed Police would stop pursuing him once he exceeded 100 mph, according to an arrest report.
Adams was charged with:
- Reckless driving
- Engaging police in a pursuit
- Disobeying the signal of an officer
- Driving under the influence
- Failure to maintain the proper lane
- Operating a drug factory
- The sale of a narcotic substance
- Interfering with police
- Possession of a controlled substance
Adams was held overnight on a $100,000 bond, and transported to Hartford Correctional Center and was to be arraigned in Hartford Superior Court on Friday.
