Sudden Layoffs At CT Juvenille School

The Connecticut juvenile school laid off workers this week.

MIDDLETOWN--Officials laid off over 100 employees at one local school this week.

The sudden layoffs of one third of the Connecticut Juvenile Training School took place on Monday, The Middletown Press reported.

On Thursday, 60 union staffers spoke out a press conference held at the school, according to The Middletown Press. Members of the CSEA/SEIU Local 2001 union said the layoffs were abrupt and disorderly.

The layoffs are part of Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy's plan to reduce spending across the state due to budget deficits, The Press reports.
