Suspected Hartford Shooters In Car Stolen From Newington Snagged On Route 9 In Middletown: Police

A shots fired incident in Hartford involving a car stolen out of Newington led to suspects being stopped in Middletown, police said.

HARTFORD, CT — Two people connected to a shots fired incident in Hartford were eventually snagged on Route 9 in Middletown, police said.

According to an incident report from Hartford police, at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation that indicated 12 rounds were fired in the area of 175 Nelson St.

Officers located 16 shell casings in the road — total of 10, 9mm casings and a total of a half-dozen .40-cal casings, according to an incident report.

No victims or property damage were found at the scene, police said.

Patrol units sent out a description of the vehicle involved to surrounding agencies and it was pursued and eventually stopped on Route 9 in Middletown with assistance from Connecticut State Police, according to an incident report.

Police said the vehicle, a 2023 Jeep Wagoneer, was later confirmed to have been stolen from Newington.

The Hartford Police Violent Crimes Unit detectives assumed the investigation and determined the suspects were connected to multiple crimes in surrounding towns.

Both individuals were taken into custody without incident, police said.

Mickey Quinones, 25, of Hartford, was charged with first-degree criminal liability assault; theft of a motor vehicle; first-degree larceny; driving a motor vehicle without the owners permission.

Jaysling Rivera, 24, of Hartford, was charged with conspiracy to commit theft of a motor vehicle and first-degree larceny.
