Tree Planting & Litter Cleanup

From The Jonah Center

We have 2 upcoming events that may be of interest to you.

Tree PlantingOn this Saturday, Nov. 8, 10 a.m. to noon, volunteers are needed to help plant the Micro-forest at the Moody School.

Middletown's Urban Forestry Commission has 100 small potted tree and shrub saplings to plant, to create a small but species-rich micro-forest. If possible, please bring a shovel, trowel, pruning clippers, gloves, and sturdy footwear. Contact Steve Cronkite at middletownforestry@gmail.com for more information. Moody School is located at 300 Country Club Road in Middletown. The planting site is to the right (east) of the school after you enter the driveway.

Litter Cleanup at Kayak Launch and Midden Lookout ParkOn Saturday, Nov. 15, 10 - 11:30 a.m., we invite you to help us remove litter from the boat launch parking lot and along the trail up to the top of the "midden" (landfill) where we are in the process of constructing a recreational trail and wildlife viewing area. The views from this location are a surprise for all who go there. On the midden, we need to remove some plastic netting that is a hazard to wildlife. If you have some utility scissors that you can bring to help with that, please do.

Here is a link to this event on the Jonah Center website, including registration. Park near the CrossFit Gym in the Keating Building, which is close to the Midden Lookout Park Trail.I hope you can make it to one or both of these events. Your help will be much appreciated.
