Woodmont Farmers' Market: At Robert Treat's Farm, 1339 New Haven Ave., Wednesday, starting at 3:30 p.m. Market offers a wide variety of Connecticut items such as fresh fish, vegetables, seasonal fruit, cheeses, baked goods and guest musicians, artisans and food trucks.

Nick Ortner at Milford Barnes & Noble: 1375 Boston Post Road, Wednesday, starting at 6 p.m. New York Times Bestselling author and Newtown resident Nick Ortner will be at the Milford Barnes & Noble to present and sign copies of his book, "The Tapping Solution: A Revolutionary System for Stress-Free Living." Free to attend; books will be available for purchase.

Kids Book Club - "The Scorpion Races": At the Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Ave., Wednesday, starting at 6 p.m. Says the library, "Join us for a fun evening that will make the book come alive for your child!" Free to attend. For grades 5-8.

Food Drive: At the Cornerstone Christian Center, 349 Wheelers Farm Road, Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. The Storehouse Food Pantry feeds hundreds of families each year. Your support is needed to help keep the shelves full. Please consider donating non-perishable food items. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.

Annual Great American Sand Sculpture Competition at Walnut Beach: Saturday, starting with registration at 11 a.m. Sand building between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. with judging to immediately follow. Registration is free and open to all. Prizes in each category will be awarded on the basis of originality, design, and over-all effect. Sponsored by DeLucia & Levine, LLC.
