Axe-Throwing Lounge Opening In Milford Plaza: Report

The nine-lane lounge was approved by the Milford Planning and Zoning Committee on Tuesday, the New Haven Register reported.

MILFORD, CT — Milford-area residents can soon try their hand at axe-throwing close to home.

The town's Planning and Zoning Board approved an application for a nine-lane axe-throwing lounge on Tuesday, the New Haven Register reported. It will be 2,832 square feet in size and located at 975 Bridgeport Ave., the Register said.

Plans call for the lounge to host four people per lane, and it will also include an open waiting area, the newspaper reported.

"It's not the kind of hatchet that you would use to chop wood. It's not as sharp, and these things are designed specifically for this activity," Jonathan Klien, attorney for application Leonard Alterio, said, according to the newspaper. "There are rubber mats on the bottom, on the sides and on the top, so there's not going to be any recoil or ricochet back at a patron that is throwing it."

Axe-throwing has become more popular in Connecticut and nationwide. Currently, there are lounges in New Haven, Wethersfield, Newington, Hartford, and more.
