'A Bright Light': Support Pours In For Milford Family After 22-Year-Old's Death

A local family is dealing with "an unimaginable loss" as their son passed away earlier this month.

MILFORD, CT — The community is rallying around a family following the death of a 22-year-old man.

Anthony Yannella passed away Oct. 7 following a two-week battle with double pneumonia.

Lauren Davi started a GoFundMe on behalf of the family.

"Anthony was an extraordinary young man with a bright future ahead of him," the GoFundMe reads. "Anthony touched the lives of so many and was cherished by everyone fortunate enough to know him. His loss leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and community."

The fundraiser seeks to help cover medical and funeral expenses. As of Tuesday morning, $33,197 had been raised.

He was a graduate of Foran High School and "a dedicated member of the marching band and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, completing a meaningful service project at Camp Cedarcrest," according to his obituary.

"Anthony, a bright light in the lives of all who knew him, passed away leaving behind a legacy of joy, curiosity, and compassion," his obituary reads.

Yannella also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security and Networking from the University of New Haven.
