Carol Ruth Peterson passed away peacefully, after a hard fought battle with cancer, on December 11, 2025, in Milford, Connecticut—the town where she was born on September 6, 1937. She was 88 years old.
Carol found joy in life’s quiet, creative moments. She was an avid reader, who loved sewing and knitting, enjoyed working through puzzles, and took great pleasure in gardening, where her patience and care were always on display.
Carol’s life was centered around her deep devotion to family. She is lovingly remembered by her four children: Steven LeFrancois of Santa Monica, California; Michelle Ellis of West Haven; Janine Fish and her husband Christopher of Milford; and Paul LeFrancois of California. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—Carissa LeFrancois, Michael Ellis, Corynne Ellis, Jennie Ellis, Luc LeFrancois, Dana Ellis, Logan Stafford, Connor Stafford, and Gracelyn LeFrancois—as well as seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is also fondly remembered by her siblings: Roberta Garitta and her husband Tony of Milford; James Peterson of Milford; and Edward Peterson of Hamden. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, James and Esther Peterson, along with siblings Kenneth Peterson, Joyce Peterson, Barbara McNary, Eleanor Van Winkle, and Dorothy Cipparrone.
Carol's strength and steadfast care left a lasting impression on those who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed but joyfully remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. Interment will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Cemetery, Buckingham Avenue, Milford (ALL MEET AT CEM).
