Have you ever held a public office before?

Minority Leader, Board of Education (2019-2023)
Member, Board of Aldermen (2023-2025)

Why are you seeking this office?

For the past six years, I have proudly served as your representative on the Milford Board of Education and the Milford Board of Aldermen. My focus has always been on providing the best education for our students and making our ‘Small City with a Big Heart’ more affordable. Both are rooted in my Catholic faith — everyone has an inherent dignity, so each person should have the opportunity to pursue their God-given vocation.

But Connecticut has a high cost-of-living and burdensome regulations that often make our lives harder, which impact even our great city. That is why I am running: to strive for a more affordable, better quality of life for you, your family, and loved ones. Everyone deserves to thrive and flourish, and not be weighed down by these anxieties. You are always on my heart and mind when I vote — and you will be for as long as I serve you.

Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The single most pressing issue facing Milford is affordability. Connecticut has the some of the highest taxes and energy costs in the country. We need fiscal discipline and responsible government because both impact our families and residents' livelihoods. That is what I have been concerned about during my time as a public official, and I intend to keep pressing those issues.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Serving as your representative for the past six years, I have experience and knowledge, and I have been a proven voice— even when it has been hard or lonely. But I stand by my principles, which are informed by my faith, and the ideals enshrined in our nation's founding documents: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I also have been a reliable, credible voice on the state and national stage, writing this year for The Hartford Courant, Connecticut Mirror, National Review, RealClearPolicy, and the Wall Street Journal. All of these articles have been raising awareness about the affordability issues crushing our residents, and the need for responsible government.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

Milford has become increasingly over-developed, with limited open space, especially downtown. I firmly believe people desire to live near and by beautiful places — instead of in a cluttered city. My goal is to preserve this city’s charm: the beaches, historical downtown, and small-town feel; but also, with plenty of amenities and economic opportunities.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have previously served you as a member of the Board of Education and Board of Aldermen. These years have been one of the greatest honors of my life; but, ultimately, this is not about me — but you and your livelihood. And it is not my seat — but yours.

If given the chance to serve again, I hope to handle this position with grace, and with you at the forefront of everything I do.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

The best advice anyone has ever given to me is to do what is right instead of what is expedient and easy. I try to live by that daily; and pray for the grace to do the right thing for you.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

Milford is home; and it has been for as long as I have been alive. I went to school here: from St. Mary's, Harborside, to Jonathan Law High School (where I was my class valedictorian). I altar served for years at parishes in town. I participated in sports like baseball, basketball, cross country, and track. I am a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Milford Irish Club. I bought a house here; and I intend to stay.

But home is you. Republican, Independent or Democrat — you are my family, friends, and neighbors. I simply hope to steer Milford in a way that is more prosperous and civil, and where you can plant your roots and thrive.

If you elect me, it will be a great honor because it is an awesome responsibility. I hope to serve well because I want Milford to be that "shining city upon a hill" — a role model for the rest of the nation. Change starts with us and what we can do in our corner of the universe. Let us strive, together, to build a civil society worth bequeathing to future generations.
