Eagerly Anticipated Pizza Restaurant In Milford Shares Important Update
The owners shared an update on when the new restaurant will open in Milford.
MILFORD, CT — The owners of the former Milford fire station on Melba Street have answered the question when they plan to open their Milford Fire Engine Pizza Co. restaurant.
The owners told Hearst Connecticut that the eagerly anticipated restaurant will open sometime this summer. Co-owner Martin McCarthy told Hearst Connecticut that the priority is to not miss another summer in the beach community of the Pond Point neighborhood.
They currently operate locations in Bridgeport and Shelton. The owners bought the property from the city of Milford in 2015 for $180,000, Hearst CT reported. (Read more at Hearst CT).

"As the owners of Fire Engine Pizza Co, we have been working tirelessly over the last seven years to convert and build out a defunct City of Milford Fire Station into a state of the art restaurant facility. We have met and overcome several setbacks both financial and otherwise on this project and to date we have invested upwards of $1 million.

"While we have identified, attempted and unfortunately missed several deadlines over the years, our end goal has always been to open without cutting any corners. The vision for the project has evolved to ensure the business will be the best possible aesthetic (inside & out) for the neighborhood and its surrounding community.
"To answer the persistent question “When will we be open?” We cannot say with certainty, but we can state with conviction that we are 100% dedicated to the completion and opening of Fire Engine Pizza Co 2 on Melba Street in the great city of Milford - in the even better neighborhood of Point Beach as soon as humanly possible. Not a pandemic, broken limbs or chronic lack of labor force will stop us. We will complete construction in the coming months and pending inspections, will be open to serve the community sometime this summer.
"We appreciate all of the support we have received over the years and look forward to being a vibrant addition to the neighborhood. Thank you all!!! Marty & Phil"
