Flood Watch Issued For Southern Connecticut

Here are the latest weather statements from the National Weather Service concerning a significant storm this weekend.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch from Saturday morning through late Saturday night for all of southern Connecticut.

"Prolonged rainfall will occur Saturday into Saturday night, and may be heavy at times. A total of 2.5 to 3.5 inches of rain is forecast with locally higher amounts possible. There will be potential for flooding, which could linger into late Saturday night with for some area rivers and streams," the weather service said.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 43. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. West wind around 6 mph.

Tonight: Rain likely after 3am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 34. Southeast wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 48. Southeast wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Saturday Night: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a slight chance of rain between midnight and 3am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 27. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. North wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
