COVID-19 Test Kit Distribution Postponed In Milford
The city had planned on hosting a test-kit distribution on Thursday, Dec. 30.

MILFORD, CT — The COVID-19 test kit distribution that was scheduled to take place in Milford on Thursday has been delayed, officials announced.
Gov. Ned Lamont’s office has notified municipalities that the state’s supply of COVID-19 test kits has been delayed due to shipping and warehouse-related issues.
“Milford emergency management officials are standing by ready to pick up Milford’s allotment of test kits as soon as they enter the state,” officials wrote in an update on Thursday morning. “As such, the distribution event scheduled for today, Thursday, December 30, 2021 has been POSTPONED.”

(Original Post): MILFORD, CT — The City of Milford will distribute free COVID-19 at-home rapid test kits from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, at 55 Seemans Lane.
Gov. Ned Lamont announced this week that the state has procured one million COVID-19 at-home rapid test kits in an effort to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 during the busy holiday season. Milford will receive its first allocation of these kits later this week.

In addition to this initial allocation, officials anticipate additional kits will be arriving specifically for families with children in Milford schools within the next one-to-two weeks, according to a news release.
“As the number of kits that will be available are limited at this time, this first allocation is intended for Milford residents who may be experiencing symptoms, had a recent exposure to an individual who is positive for COVID-19, and/or who have or will be attending larger gatherings in order to help curb the spread of COVID-19,” officials wrote in the news release.
Milford will distribute the COVID-19 at-home rapid test kits to community members on from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30 at the Milford Fire Department/Emergency Management Facility located at 55 Seemans Lane. Residents should bring proof of residency through an ID and/or Milford beach sticker. Test kits will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
“It is anticipated that additional tests will be allocated in January and the City will make announcements upon receipt from the State of Connecticut,” officials wrote. “Per the CDC recommendations, if your self-test yields a positive result, please stay home or isolate and wear a mask. There is no need to obtain a follow up PCR test. Given the highly infectious nature of the Omicron variant and the increase in cases locally, it is most important to get vaccinated if you haven’t been vaccinated, get a booster if you are eligible, wear a mask both in public spaces and when interacting in close contact with individuals outside of your household, and stay home if you are sick.”
