Former Gov. Candidate James Amann Resigns From the Milford Democratic Town Committee
33-year member and former House Speaker, James Amann, will step down from membership.

James Amann, former Connecticut General Assembly House Speaker, announced Friday he will be stepping down as a member of the Milford Democratic Town Committee, the Milford Mirror reported. He has been a member of the town committee for the past 33 years.
In a letter addressed to Chairman Richard Smith and the Milford Democratic Town Committe members, Amann said, “There comes a time in every politician’s life when one knows that it is time to move on, to allow someone younger to step forward, someone with fresh ideas, energy and, yes — the legs — to carry our message to every door and household in Milford to keep the Democratic Party alive, relevant and strong. For me, that time is now.”
Amann, 59, was elected into state office representing Milford’s 118th district in 1990 and served through 2009.
