Man, 28, Runs Into The Woods After Officers Disabled Car: Police

Officers disabled the Chevy Corvette after deploying stop sticks, Milford Police Department said.

MILFORD, CT — A 28-year-old Milford man was charged with reckless driving after fleeing from officers, Milford Police Department said.

On Thursday, Nov. 16, an officer observed a Chevy Corvette with no registration plate parked in the boat ramp parking lot on Naugatuck Avenue, police said.

The officer recognized the vehicle from many previous incidents involving the vehicle and its owner, Jeffrey Yu, police said.

Yu had fled in the Chevy Corvette from the Milford Police Department on nine previous occasions since October and had 10 warrants for his arrest, police said.

Yu fled from officers and drove over deployed stop sticks, police said.

The vehicle became disabled near 534 Oronoque Road, and Yu was seen running into the wooded area, police said.

After a foot chase, Yu was apprehended and was also found to be in possession of various narcotics and paraphernalia, police said.

Yu was taken into custody and charged, which included interfering with an officer, two counts of no insurance, two counts of reckless driving, three counts of engaging an officer in pursuit, three counts of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, two counts of operating an unregistered motor vehicle, disobeying signal of an officer, traffic light violation and failure to display number plate, police said.

Yu was unable to post bond and is scheduled to appear in Milford Superior Court on Nov. 17, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, and more charges may be forthcoming, police said.
