Man At Bar Punches Officer In The Face: Milford Police Dept.

Milford Police Officers responded to an establishment where the man was refusing to leave, police said.

MILFORD, CT – A Milford man is being charged after assaulting a police officer Friday, Milford Police Department said.

On Friday, Oct. 14, officers were dispatched to 975 Bridgeport Ave., where a patron, later identified as Leonard Alterio III, 58, of Milford, was refusing to leave the establishment, police said.

As officers approached Alterio at the bar, he began using expletives and was uncooperative, police said.

The officers told him he had to leave, and he began walking toward the exit, police said.

The officers told him to stop and talk to them, at which he turned around, got into the officer’s face, used expletives, and became aggressive, police said.

Alterio punched an officer in the face and began fighting with the officers, police said.

Shortly after, officers were able to gain control and detain him, police said.

Alterio was charged with interfering with an officer, assault on a police officer and disorderly conduct, police said.

Alterio’s bond was set at $25,000, and a court date has been set for Nov. 9, police said.
