Milford Animal Control Issues Warning On Scams
A resident recently received a scam call reporting that their pet was hit by a car.
MILFORD, CT — Animal Control is warning Milford residents to watch out for scams.
Animal Control "received an alarming report" that someone posted a missing cat on social media and included their phone number.
"They received a call from a person stating they were from Milford Animal Control, and their pet was hit by a car, and to get the pet back would cost $2000," Animal Control posted on Facebook. "This is NOT how Milford Animal Control handles matters!"

Animal Control said residents should verify any call or communication with their office directly before taking any action. Animal Control can be reached at (203) 783-3279.
"FYI THOUGH, It COULD be these people really do have the cat and are holding it for ransom," Animal Control added. "We unfortunately had a person in the Plains Road area pay $1000 to get her cat back from scammers like this."
