Milford Baseball Standouts Among 2025 Hall of Fame Inductees

Three Milford natives are being honored by the Southern Connecticut Diamond Club.

MILFORD, Conn. — Three Milford natives will be honored this fall as part of the Southern Connecticut Diamond Club’s 2025 Hall of Fame class.

Dave Lanese and the father-son duo of Ken and Garrett Walker are among nine inductees who will be recognized at the organization’s annual banquet on Oct. 23 at The Woodwinds in Branford, according to a statement from the club.

Lanese, a 1983 Milford High graduate, excelled as a pitcher, first baseman and outfielder under coach Dick Jeynes. He later starred at the University of Connecticut, earning All-New England honors, and played for decades in adult leagues while also volunteering as a youth coach in Milford.

Ken Walker, who died in 2012, was a standout three-sport athlete at Milford High before playing baseball at Central Connecticut State University. He went on to win 279 games as baseball coach at Foran High and also led the school to a state football championship in 1994. Foran’s baseball field now bears his name.

Garrett Walker, a 2003 Foran graduate and current varsity coach in both football and baseball, guided the Lions to the 2017 Class L state baseball title. He also played 17 years in the West Haven Twilight League.

Other honorees include Mark Brookes, Ron Luneau, Don Martone, Joe Tonelli Jr., Carl Perez and Richard Shultz.
