The city plans to take part in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
MILFORD, CT — Milford officials have formally begun planning for the city’s participation in the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
At its Jan. 5 meeting, the Board of Aldermen unanimously approved a resolution authorizing preparations for the milestone anniversary, which will be marked nationwide in 2026. The resolution establishes the framework for a local committee to oversee events and related activities tied to the semiquincentennial.
During discussion, aldermen raised questions about how the celebration would be managed, including permitting and oversight.

Aldermen also discussed administrative details, including branding. Community Development Director Robert Townes told the Board that the committee would work with a graphic designer to develop a logo for the anniversary effort.
