Milford Celebrates Earth Day 2023 On The Green

Milford's Earth Day 2023 Celebration will include over 40 vendors, children's events and much more.

MILFORD, CT – Earth Day 2023 is right around the corner, and Milford is gearing up to be part of the celebration.

Milford's Earth Day Celebration will be on April 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the Green at 168-176 Broad Street in downtown Milford.

Milford Mayor Ben Blake will open the event, sponsored by the Milford Environmental Concerns Coalition (ECC). The master of ceremonies, Brian Smith, will direct attention to each timed event.
There will be learning opportunities for adults and children and more than 40 vendors, including environmentally focused clubs, organizations, businesses, and restaurants, sharing ways to move to a more sustainable future.

There will be local artisans, musicians, and storytellers as well as activities for children, including a scavenger hunt, making flowerpots using recycled newspaper and participating in an art demonstration/painting activity sponsored by the Milford Arts Council.

During Milford's Earth Day, there will be a demonstration on "plogging," a combination of jogging and picking up litter, by The Jonathan Law High School football team, which will end with the results of who picked up the most trash.

Jeremy Grant, Milford's Open Space Coordinator, will empty a recycling being to show what does and doesn't belong, and for gardening enthusiasts, a composting demonstration is also on the agenda.

Applications to exhibit are still being accepted. No fee is required to participate, but each group must supply and set up its table.
