Milford Children's Snapper Derby Details Announced

Mayor Benjamin G. Blake announced today that the annual Children’s Snapper Derby will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Lisman Landing, according to a press release.

Fishing will begin at 6 a.m. and weigh-ins will be done from 7:30 a.m. to noon, the release says. Sponsored by the city of Milford and the Milford Sport Fishing Association, this event is open to any child 15 years old and under, and there is no fee for participation.

“This is a wonderful event for the children as well as their families and friends, and I look forward to seeing all the smiles this day brings,” Blake said. “Thanks to the Milford Sport Fishing Association for the great job they do every year organizing this event.”

First, second and third place prizes will be awarded for the heaviest five fish, the release says. Hot dogs and refreshments will be served at around noon and a free raffle will be held during the event.
