Milford Meals on Wheels Program Rolls Out New Van Thanks to Community Support
The van was received this past Monday

Milford, CT — The Milford Senior Center is thrilled to announce the addition to its Meals on Wheels program: the acquisition of a brand-new delivery van, made possible by months of dedicated fundraising and unwavering community support.
This vehicle marks an intricate moment for the program as it continues to expand its reach and strengthen its mission to deliver nutritious meals, meaningful connections, and compassionate care to local seniors and individuals in need.
“We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed—generous donors, passionate volunteers, and enthusiastic event participants,” said Leonora C. Rodriguez, Executive Director. “This van is more than transportation—it’s a lifeline that ensures our Milford neighbors continue to receive the vital services they depend on.”
Rosie Rosa, Meals on Wheels Coordinator and her team of drivers were excited to receive the van, a replacement to a previously damaged vehicle involved in an accident earlier this year.

"We have grown in the number of people that we deliver to-it really is a lifeline for many that lives alone or need substantial medical or physical help. It's one less thing they have to worry about." stated Rosie.
The drivers bring more than a meal, they are providing socialization and a warm smile. The new van symbolizes the collective heart of Milford—a community that rallies behind its own.
Among the many incredible supporters, a generous anonymous donation made through The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven played a crucial role in turning this dream into reality. The impact of this gift—alongside the power of grassroots fundraising—demonstrates what’s possible when community and compassion come together. Every donation and act of kindness helped bring this vision to life.
