Milford Oyster Festival Announces Headlining Musical Act

Every year the Milford Oyster Festival attracts more than 50,000 people to the city's downtown. Here's this year's headlining act.

MILFORD, CT — You know it's almost summer when the nationally known Milford Oyster Festival announces its headlining musical performance. In case you were wondering, the 43rd annual Milford Oyster Festival will be held 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 19 in downtown Milford. Admission is free of course.

According to the official website, "The MILFORD OYSTER FESTIVAL has the largest variety of OYSTERS at any festival in the USA. There will be 35,000 oysters with 19 varieties from 8 states on the East Coast. Try one of each and enjoy our new craft beer section!" And this year's musical headliner is Blackberry Smoke, and they are a Southern rock and roll band from Atlanta, Georgia.

According to the Milford Oyster Festival website, "They have been #1 on the US Billboard Country and Americana/Folk charts as well as the UK Rock and Independent Albums charts during release week of there album

Like an Arrow. Blackberry Smoke performed throughout the United States, Europe and Australia both as a headliner and as the supporting act for artists such as Zac Brown Band, Eric Church, ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Since the bands formation in 2000 they have been playing over 250 shows a year gaining a huge audience for it's southern rock tradition," the website concludes.
