Milford Schools Offering Weekly Student COVID Testing

Parents can choose to have their children tested for COVID-19 each Tuesday through a new Milford Public Schools program.

MILFORD, CT — Parents and guardians of students attending Milford Public Schools now have the option to enroll their children in a weekly COVID-19 testing program.

Each Tuesday, students enrolled in the program will go to a chaperoned testing location within their school, where Progressive Diagnostics will administer their test. Results will typically follow within 24 hours, schools Superintendent Dr. Anna Cutaia said in a letter to parents.

Parents can access their children's results in the online Progressive Patient Portal, and if their child tests positive, they will be told by the school to keep them home until they receive further direction.

"As a parent or guardian, you are responsible for viewing your child's test results and keeping them home if they test positive," Cutaia wrote in her letter.

The program will begin on Feb. 8, though enrollment is rolling — every student who is signed up by noon on Mondays will be including in the following day's testing session.

Children who are already signed up will be tested every week through the end of the program, though parents can dis-enroll their students by emailing coviddetect@milforded.org.

Cutaia said in her letter that the school system has received a "robust response" from the school community in support of the program, and said anyone with questions about it can email coviddetect@milforded.org.
