Milford Store's Lottery License Suspended; Owner To Face Charges
A convenience store owner sold THC illegally and had a gun with an obliterated serial number, according to a state report.
MILFORD, CT — Gulf Convenience's license to sell lottery tickets has been suspended and its owner will face criminal charges, according to the Department of Consumer Protection.
A department agent inspected the store on July 16 and found "numerous violations." This included cannabis products like e-cigarettes and edibles around the register that exceeded the .3% THC level allowed by law.

“Promoting and selling illegal cannabis products, especially where people who are underage may buy them, is a gross violation of the trust we put in our license holders,” Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner Bryan T. Cafferelli said in a statement.
Police also found a Sig Sauer .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol that was under clothing on a shelf in a back room. The gun had a full magazine and an obliterated serial number, according to the Department of Consumer Protection.
The store was also operating a $40 spinning wheel game that state officials deemed illegal gambling.
The Department of Consumer Protection report stated that Milford police will charge the store's owner with operating a drug factory, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to sell, and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
The department is prohibiting Gulf Convenience from selling lottery tickets "pending further investigation."
