Next Storm Emerges For Southern CT, Special Weather Statement Issued Friday

It will be a busy couple of days from a weather standpoint in southern CT. Here are the new forecast details for the next several days.

Another day, another special weather statement issued for southern Connecticut, and once again it is over black ice concerns.

"Surface temperatures are around or just below freezing with high relative humidity," the National Weather Service said Friday morning concerning southern Connecticut. "This can lead to patchy black ice during the morning commute. Be prepared for a possible thin layer of ice on untreated roads, sidewalks, stairs, and driveways."

We will warm up big time on Friday, with temperatures rising into the 50s! However, some rain is forecast before more substantial rain arrives this weekend with our next weather system.

We could see in excess of an inch of rain on Saturday and early Sunday, according to forecasters.

"Tomorrow is cloudy and you’ll need the umbrella again with periods of rain becoming likely from late afternoon into the evening hours," said WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "And, yes, we’re talking rain as temps will still be above average, topping out in the mid-40s. Sunday, other than perhaps a lingering shower early, we should see at least partial clearing as the day progresses. Behind a cold front it will be a bit breezy, also relatively cooler with highs between 40 and 45."
