Obituary: Edward Patrick “Pat” Austin, 49, of Milford

He served the Milford community as a Recreation Supervisor for 22 years.

Edward Patrick “Pat” Austin, 49, of Milford, tragically passed away on April 7, 2023. He was born on March 25, 1974 in New Haven the son of Edward T. Austin and Joan Aspinwall Austin. He was a lifelong Milford resident.

Pat was a 1993 graduate of Notre Dame Catholic High School in Fairfield, CT where he was a member of the hockey team. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Southern CT State University.

Pat worked for the Town of Redding Park and Recreation Department and the Boys and Girls Club before returning to his roots in the City of Milford Recreation Department where he served the community as a Recreation Supervisor for 22 years. He directed many programs for youths and adults throughout his career.

Pat was also very involved with the Connecticut ASA softball association as an umpire for 15 years. He was also the Executive Secretary and the Player Representative of the organization. He was also a registered umpire with the National ASA Umpire Association.

Pat was an avid Red Sox fan and also loved the NY Rangers. He was a talented cook who also loved traveling, planning get togethers, and attending music and sporting events. Mostly, he was completely devoted to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by the many who loved him.

Along with his father, Pat is survived by his beloved daughter, Abigeàl Austin and her mother, Patty Fitzsimons; sister, Katie (Darryl) Gaetano; girlfriend, Meghan Puvogel; niece, Madelyn Gaetano; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends. Pat was preceded in death by his mother.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Gabriel Church (Saint Raphael Parish) 26 Broadway, Milford (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Burial will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry St., Milford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunnel for Towers or American Cancer Society in honor of Pat.
