Obituary: Fred Crandall Thaxter, 83, of Milford
Fred, lovingly referred to as "Freddy Cigar", proudly served in the U.S. Army and worked many years for the United States Postal Service.
MILFORD, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) Fred Crandall Thaxter, 83, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Thaxter, passed away on February 8, 2022.
Born on December 12, 1938 in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late Richard and Helen (Pusinelli) Thaxter.
Fred proudly served his country in the United States Army. He resided in New Rochelle, NY for over 50 years, where he went on to work for the United States Postal Service until his retirement. Fondly known as “Freddy Cigar”, he was an avid cigar smoker and enjoyed a good Tanqueray and Tonic.
Fred is survived by his children, Damien Thaxter, Devon (Patrick) McDonnell, and Charles Maglio; his grandchildren, Margaret, Eilis, and Cameron; his brothers, Richard (Dolores) Thaxter, and Thomas (Connie) Thaxter; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to his wife, Fred was also predeceased by his cat, George.
A Virtual Funeral Service with Military Honors will be celebrated on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:30 a.m.

The family is being compassionately cared for by the staff at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 BROAD ST., MILFORD, CT.
