MILFORD, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) John “Jack” Godfrey, 69, of Milford, beloved husband of Debbie Godfrey, passed away on December 24, 2021. Born on February 11, 1952 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Catherine and John F. Godfrey.

Jack retired from the US Coast Guard as Chief Petty Officer after 20-years, spending most of his career stationed in New Haven.

He proudly devoted 50 years to the Milford Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 24-03, as well. He spent the last several years working at CAAP CO. in Milford before retiring last year.

Jack touched the lives of everyone he met; he loved to teach the ones he loved about the various hobbies he enjoyed such as short track racing, NASCAR, recreational and competitive shooting, and so much more.

Hosting neighborhood firework shows during the 4th of July holiday was one of his favorite traditions.

During the summer months he could be found at any one of the several car shows in the area displaying one of his hot rods.

More than anything, Jack loved his family and that never went unnoticed. His presence will forever be missed but never forgotten.

Along with his devoted wife, Jack leaves behind his adoring children, Stephen Godfrey and Jaclyn Godfrey; cherished grandchildren, Britney Godfrey and John Godfrey-Ortiz; siblings, Robert Godfrey, Kathleen Dufresne, and Ruth Stempert; and many extended family and good friends.

Services will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
